Egypt Education Platform (EEP) will be opening GEMS British School Badya (GEMS BSB) in September 2024 in a prime location in West Cairo.

GEMS British School Badya: will be a values-driven community that educates the whole child whilst ensuring academic rigour.  GEMS BSB will develop leaders of the future that will make a difference to the local and international community through kindness, compassion, integrity and empathy.

Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint a Principal from September 2023 to prepare for welcoming families to our school in September 2024. 

As a leader of the school you will need to be able to demonstrate, not only the flexibility and resilience of working in a new school but will possess the following attributes:

  • Has a detailed and up to date knowledge of the National Curriculum of England and features of effective teaching

  • Has a passion for teaching and learning as well as the wellbeing of children, staff and parents
  • Is an active listener and a reflective leader; communicating effectively with children, staff and parents
  • Creates a culture where staff are motivated, trusted, and encouraged to take initiative and make decisions where they will feel supported to develop their own skills as leaders
  • Has a successful track record of senior leadership within education
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to meet challenges with optimism

 

The founding Principal will be responsible for the following:

  • Overseeing the creation and implementation of the school’s vision and guiding statements
  • Contribute to the creation and development of whole school strategic planning
  • Manage the workflow process ensuring the school is fully prepared to offer outstanding education from the first day it opens its doors to the community
  • Engage students and staff in the development of academic and individual goals
  • Recruit excellent teachers that are passionate about students’ learning
  • Aligning resource selection and allocation to strategic goals
  • Work with colleagues from the Central Education Team (CET) to ensure all policy documents are available to new staff joining the school or to those who might require them
  • Direct involvement in the support and evaluation of teaching through regular classroom visits and provision of formative and summative feedback to teachers.
  • Oversee the creation of curriculum documentation
  • Promote and engage in the teacher appraisal process across the school
  • Provide a safe physical and emotional learning environment
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a collegial and supportive culture in the school that encourages risk taking and openness
  • Develop and implement procedures to support good classroom engagement and behaviour
  • Ensure that communications with students and parents are positive and effective, and consistent with school wide expectations
  • Hold regular meetings with teachers to deal with matters of interest and significance
  • Determine the school’s USPs with the CET and ensure activities occur based on these unique features
  • Lead aspects of external accreditation
  • Be responsible for ensuring the school meets its ambitious enrolment targets
  • Be responsible for student welfare and behaviour
  • Develop and oversee assessment and reporting

Requirements and skills

The successful applicants will have the following:

 

  • Degree certification in addition to a certified teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent essential.
  • Experience of teaching in a UK curriculum school essential
  • Experience of senior leadership essential
  • NPQH or equivalent desirable
