Students from GEMS International School Cairo (GISC) and Alexandria International Academy (AIA) proudly participated in the final ceremony of the Social Enterprise Academy Egypt Competition, hosted at the GISC campus. This dynamic event gathered students from Grades 4 to 9 to present their innovative business plans designed to address real-world social and environmental challenges. The competition served as a powerful platform to highlight student creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, and commitment to positive community impact.
These young changemakers delivered compelling pitches in front of a distinguished panel of judges comprising influential leaders across multiple sectors. The judging panel included Ahmed Salama, Solutions Director and Technology Officer at Microsoft Egypt; Amr Hatem, Associate Director at EFG Hermes; Dalia Fakhr, Head of Business Development for Culture and Heritage at Sadko Group; Hussein Safwat, Chief Operations Officer at Benefit for Healthy Food and Beverages (V7 & V Cola); John Saad, Group CEO of Contact Financial Holding and Chairman of AIM Technologies; and Tarek Mansour, Business Advisor and Mentor, FRA Board Member, and former Senior Partner and Chairman of PwC Middle East. Their presence underscored the significance of youth-led innovation in shaping the future. The event was also honored by the attendance of Omar Nazmy, General Manager at Egypt Education Platform (EEP), who showed his support for the students’ inspiring efforts.
In the Grades 4 to 6 category, first place was awarded to Bloom Boom from GISC for their eco-startup centered on recycled seed bombs that transform paper waste into tools for reforestation and green space cultivation. Second place went to Shapeables, also from GISC, for their creative line of handmade organic soaps aimed at protecting both land and marine environments. Third place was earned by Health Go from AIA, whose customized water flasks promote healthy hydration while reducing single-use plastic consumption.
For Grades 7 to 9, the top honor went to Craft Nook from GISC for their social enterprise focused on producing hand-sewn tech cases crafted by underprivileged women, combining community empowerment with functional innovation. Second place was
claimed by No Planet B from AIA for their vision of eco-friendly tote bags promoting sustainable consumer habits. Everything Bananas from GISC secured third place with a unique business model centered around banana-based baked goods that blend nutrition, sustainability, and profit-for-impact strategies. Ms. Green, also from GISC, received fourth place for their concept of refillable, natural beauty products aimed at reducing environmental harm and encouraging the use of clean alternatives.
Through initiatives like the Social Enterprise Academy Egypt Competition, EEP continues to champion entrepreneurial education, social responsibility, and future-ready skills.
