Hayah International Academy’s Pivotal Role in IBSEA’s Support of the IB Community in Egypt

Established in 2020, the International Baccalaureate Schools in Egypt Association (IBSEA) is a recognized member of the Associations of IB World Schools (AIBWS), representing more than 50 IB schools across Egypt, serving over 80,000 students. The association brings together hundreds of IB educators from diverse institutions, fostering collaboration, supporting professional development, and networking among teachers, coordinators, and school leaders. IBSEA’s elected executive committee is headed by Ms. Ghada Dajani as President and Ms. Abeya Fathy, Head of Schools and Co-Founder of Hayah International Academy and Hayah West as IBSEA’s Vice-President. IBSEA’s 50 member schools include 4 EEP schools: Hayah International Academy, Hayah West, AIA and GISC.

This year, IBSEA organized several key professional development events to serve the IB educational community in Egypt: IBSEA’s annual three-day conference and the launch of the IB multi-school workshops in Egypt.

IBSEA Conference 2025: Empowering Voices – The Sound of Learning

Hosting 1500 IB educators from around Egypt, and with IBO guests flying from Jordan, The Hague, and Cardiff, IBSEA Conference gave its attendees the platform to collaborate and learn. The conference was a mix of workshops and panels, with 27 workshop leaders from Hayah International Academy, main and west campuses. An interschool choir enchanted the attendees at the opening ceremony with Um Kalthoum’s classic ‘مصر التي في خاطري’.

IBSEA IB Multi-School Workshops (MSW):

This year, IBSEA launched IB face-to-face cluster/multi-school workshops for IBSEA schools. Hayah International Academy hosted the second round of these workshops, with over 230 educators from Egypt’s IB schools, the largest IB PD event held in the region.

The series of 16, 2-day and 1-day official workshops led by international and regional IB workshop leaders created a dynamic platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise. The workshops aimed to empower local educators to become agents of change and to continuously share knowledge within their schools and wider education networks.

As a key member of the EEP schools, Hayah International Academy continues to be a driving force within IBSEA, contributing leadership, expertise, and active engagement that strengthen the association’s mission to support and develop Egypt’s IB community.
